Meat, Grilled FishBiurko Gorri - Arbanta Tempranillo 2021. "Biurko" originates from Basque, meaning "area of two waters." It's the term used by locals in Bargota to describe the region characterized by two slopes and a valley where the winery is situated. This Navarrese town, nestled within the D.O. Rioja, lies at the foothills of the Sierra de Yoar or Sierra de Cantabria, approximately 600 meters above sea level. Biurko embodies the longstanding winemaking heritage of Bargota, while also cherishing traditional and natural agricultural practices. The current winery was established and constructed in 1992.
The debut wine from Biurko Gorri - Arbanta Tempranillo 2021 perfectly encapsulates its ethos. It's a pure Tempranillo varietal, cultivated and vinified using natural methods. The vineyards thrive in soils with a thin layer of limestone overlaying a stone subsoil, within the context of an extreme continental mountain climate. During vinification, the wine undergoes a brief maceration and fermentation at low temperatures, employing indigenous yeasts and abstaining from sulfur additions.
